Prof. Asha J.V. did her MA(English), M.Ed and M.Phil from the University of Kerala and PhD from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University , Surat. She is an awardee of ICSSR Post Doctoral Fellowship. She started her career as a Post Graduate Teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under MHRD, Govt. of India. She served as Assistant Professor in Sree Narayana Training College, Nedunganda, Varkala and in Dept. of Education, University of Kerala. While working as Associate Professor in University of Kerala, she joined School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University as Direct Professor in May, 2018.
Prof. Asha J.V. has accomplished various academic and administrative responsibilities, such as Course Coordinator for M.Ed. and Academic Coordinator for M.Phil. at the University of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University; Dean, Faculty of Education, Mahatma Gandhi University from 2020 to 2022; Hon. Director of the Curriculum Development Centre, University of Kerala from October 2008 to May 2018; and the present Coordinator of the Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Chair for National Integration constituted in School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University. She is nominated as the Chairperson of Curriculum Committee for Early Childhood Care and Education, SCERT in 2022 and Member, Research Advisory Committee, SCERT. She had been an expert consultant to many State Government Institutions like SIET, SIEMAT, DIET and National level Institutions like RIE, Mysore and Universities like the M S University, Baroda; CU Rajasthan, Punjabi University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Karpagam University, Bharathiar University, Bharathidasan University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamilnadu Teacher Education University, CU, Kerala; Kannur University etc. She was a member of Board of studies of the University of Kerala and University of Calicut and member of Faculty of Education in University of Kerala. She has been a Member Coordinator/Member for various visiting Teams of NAAC and contributed to the accreditation process of Higher Education Institutions across India. She has served as Subject expert for various selection committees for Recruitment and CAS of teachers of various levels in many Universities and Colleges. As an expert member, she served Inspection Commissions to affiliated Colleges of University of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University. Prof. Asha has academic and research collaborations with Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE, HELP University, Malaysia, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, London School of Management Education, UK etc.
In the research arena, Prof. Asha has successfully completed five major/minor research projects funded by various National/Govt. agencies. She had been a recognized research guide of the University of Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram) till 2018 and an external guide of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Thirunelveli. Under her guidance 21 scholars have successfully awarded PhD and presently 7 students are pursuing research leading to PhD under her guidance in Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Her mentees include 2 US Full Bright scholars and 3 Post Doctoral Fellows of ICSSR, UGC and University of Kerala. Being guide to 18 M.Phil. students and 85 M.Ed. students she has contributed to innovative research areas. Her extensive research publication includes 46 articles in Scopus indexed/Web of Science journals/UGC-CARE listed/approved journals/other peer-reviewed journals, edited/authored 12 books, presented papers in 129 international/national/state level conferences/seminars, developed 8 training modules for workshops, one award winning educational short film, 4 e-contents and organized 14 National/ State level Seminars/Workshops. She is presently associated with SPARC project as Indian CoPI. Her contributions to educational initiatives are diverse, from conducting extension programmes to organizing Curriculum Fairs and Cyber awareness campaigns. Her dedication to mentorship is evident in the progression of her scholars across various prestigious positions/programmes.
